Expert talk on Genetic Engineering




On 21 December , Dr Allwyn Pereira , Scientist and  Post doctoral research scholar at Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, Germany gave the S.Y.B.Ed students insights into Genetic Engineering. Using various analogies, Dr Pereira elucidated the concept, techniques and applications of Genetic Engineering thus giving the audience a clear understanding of the marvels of Genetic Engineering. He explained how Genetic Engineering is used in medicine and agriculture. He answered queries raised by students.

Mentoring by Alumni: Preparation for Placement 






Pushpajyot Placement Cell organised a session on 'Preparing for the world of work: Facing Interviews with confidence'. The resource persons were our alumni Ms Tracy DSouza, Ms Mildred Gonsalves, Ms Shifa Dias and Ms Audrey Carvalho. They shared valuable tips regarding appearing facing an interview and preparing for demonstration lessons. They also shared their experiences in their respective schools thus giving students a vivid picture of the multidimensional roles expected from a teacher.  Prior to this session, Dr Cynthia DCosta had conducted a session on 'Preparing one's Curriculum Vitae'. She also guided the students regarding applications through online mode. 


Expert talk on Interactive Classrooms

On 9 February 2019, Mr Anthony Dias, alumnus of 2016-18 batch and presently a  teacher at Campion Boys High School, conducted a session on Innovative Techniques for an Interactive Classroom. 
Anthony shared made interesting ways to ensure an interactive classroom. He supported his inputs with samples of lap books, educational bookmarks, concept maps  and other supportive material that helps to integrate constructivist learning. He also shared how technology can be used to go beyond the syllabus and help students learn capitalizing on their critical thinking and creativity. The F.Y.B.Ed students found the session extremely inspiring as it helped them expand their own horizons of thinking. We are sure that the session will help student-teachers to plan and execute internship lessons that will make learning an enjoyable experience. 











Visit to National English High School and Workshop on Charged Classrooms

On 2 March 2019, the students of F.Y.B.Ed visited National English High school, Virar and had a wonderful experience exploring the learning spaces in the school. Ms Gaurangini Kulkarni Shetty, Ms Priya Pillai and Mr Shreeyas Shetty conducted a guided tour of the school and showed the students how premises can be converted to effective learning avenues. The school is a haven for science enthusiasts who were exposed to the beauty of Science in the varied exhibits displayed. Students of History could learn about our enriched culture. Mathematics lovers had an experience of seeing interesting ways to teach Mathematics.  After a short break, the students participated in a workshop entitled 'Charged Classrooms' where they learned techniques that can enliven the classroom and break the monotony that might creep in. The students also had the opportunity to interact with Mr Deepak Kulkarni the founder of the school who gave them insights into the secrets behind a successful educational institution. It was indeed an enriching and educative experience.
