Certificate Course in E Content Development

A Certificate Course in  E Content Development was conducted for students from 1 July 2020. This two credit (30 hour course) covered many interesting topics and students learned to create quiz in Kahoot, create digital worksheets, online story books, online infographics and interactive resources using H5P and Thinglink. They also learned screen capture techniques to create video lessons. Students learned to make interactive videos using H5P and Edpuzzle, They explored various educational websites specific to their pedagogy subjects. Each day students had to submit the resource created. Since the platform used was Google classroom, they had the benefit of learning from each other's work showcased. Students were given certificates for the best resources.  



Certificate Course in Apps in Education

A Certificate Course on Apps in Education was created and deployed using canvas instructure platform. The cours was conceptualised and launched by Dr Agnes DCosta and was conducted from 15 August to 15 November 2020. Students learned the use of Google Apps in Education. They also learned how to use apps like Arloopa for Augmented Reality, Answergarden and Padlet for interactivity in online learning. Students used collaborative tools like Google docs and Google slides to work in teams. The learning experience echoed in the lessons conducted by students where they confidently incorporated various apps to make the online lessons interesting and interactive.  9 July 2020: Webinar on Virtual Classrooms

Mr Anthony Dias conducted a webinar on 'Virtual Classrooms'. The students got insights in the use of various apps for online teaching learning and evaluation. The webinar surely helped them to be aware of the numerous platforms and digital tools available to make blended learning effective and learner centric. Principal Dr Mabel Pimenta addressed the students. Faculty in charge of Pushpadeep Dr Agnes DCosta co ordinated the webinar and Ms Alisha Andrades proposed the vote of thanks.


28 July 2020: All's Well that Blends Well : Using Group Dynamics to Resolve Conflicts

On 28 July 2020, Dr Giselle DSouza conducted an online workshop on conflict resolution. She elucidated the different roles of a person and illustrated why role conflicts arise. She elaborated about group cohesiveness and group etiquette and gave the participants tips like appropriate use of 'I statements' to build happy and healthy relationships. She reiterated the need to use ones rational brain to take effective decisions. Dr Giselle also elaborated upon different styles of conflict resolution. The workshop was made interesting as the participants were energised through use of tech tools like Padlet, Mentimeter and Jamboard which ensured interactivity and involvement. The session will surely help to build essential life skills that can make one's personal and professional life meaningful. 


18 August 2020 : Virtual Laboratories for Science and Mathematics

On 18 Aug 2020, Pushpaganit Mathematics Club and Eureka Science Club organised a session on Use of Simulations and Virtual Laboratories in Learning Mathematics and Science. The resource person Dr Agnes D’Costa led the students into the enchanting world of interactive simulations that can be used to help students understand concepts in Mathematics and Science. Students can use these simulations to stimulate critical thinking and promote constructivist learning. 




20 August 2020 : Online Workshop on Augmented Reality Apps

Augmented Reality can bring a new dimension to teaching and learning. On 20 August 2020, our alumnus Pradeep Dias gave us an interesting session on Augmented Reality Apps like Arloopa and Assemble. He explained how to use these apps to take the learning experience to a new level. It was quite exciting to see an elephant at one's door or a tiger in one's living room. The workshop gave students new insights to make the teaching learning experience lively and interesting.

Preparing for Placement


On 2 Jan 2021, the Placement Cell of the college conducted a session for the students to help them apply for jobs. Dr Agnes Dcosta guided students regarding writing an application, preparing a resume and creating a LinkedIn profile.

Ms Mildred Gonsalves Dabreo, teacher  at Jamnabai Narsee High School guided regarding preparing for an interview .

Ms Jonella Gonsalves, teacher at GEMS School, Dubai oriented students with respect to applying overseas  for jobs in education. She also shared her experiences as a teacher who regularly uses learning  experiences related to promoting inclusivity in the classroom.

Students interacted with the resource persons and sought clarification to different queries. Principal Dr Mabel Pimenta thanked the speakers and  wished the students as they embark on  their journey towards the world of work. 

Demonstration on Thinglink and Virtual Tours

On 20 March 2021, Ms Alisha Andrades and Ms Venisa Dias oriented our F.Y.B.Ed students to the Thinglink platform. Some alumni of the college also attended the session. Thinglink is like a virtual library of resources that helps to foster constructivist learning. Participants learned how to embed content or create tags in the form of videos, text, quizzes, websites into a background image. When these tags are activated then the learner can delve deeper into the content, explore about different subtopics and thus learn in a constructivist manner. Ms Alisha also taught participants to make a virutal tour and thus have a 360 degree panaromic view of any place. Queries were resolved. 




Demonstration on Screen Capture Tools

On 31 March 2021, Ms Sophiya Gonsalves and Ms Vilfrena DMello oriented the students of F.Y.B.Ed regarding the use of Screen Capture tools. They demonstrated the use of Screencast-O-Matic, Screen recorder and YouCut to convert powerpoint presentations to videos. They also guided the students regarding simple steps to add music and captions to a video. Various queries of students regarding screen capture apps on mobile were also resolved.

The pandemic brought life to standstill but you teachers stood there to support us and taught us to cope up with the situation..gave us the skills we require ...and helped us to accelerate.
